In a country where already 80% of its residents already live in poverty, the importance of opening our hearts and resources has never been more evident. If your kids are older they most certainly have heard of the devastating earthquake that rocked this small nation. But what is the best way for them to help? Money is always welcome during a crisis of this magnitude; to safely and quickly donate, lead your child through the process of donating at sites like The American Red Cross, www.redcross.org (or text HAITI to 90999 for a $10 donation) or UNICEF, www.unicef.org (text UNICEF to 20222 for a $10 donation). Younger children may grasp the need to donate more when explained to them in terms of basic needs.
