Family Gasparilla Guide
Jose’ Gaspar Invades—The Gasparilla Parade!
When:
Saturday, January 26th Where: Bayshore Blvd. Why: A Tampa tradition since 1904. Taking a hint from Mardi Gras, Gasparilla attendees will be showered with beads, loud music, colorful floats and carnival type food fare. Festivities start at 11:30, when Jose’ Gaspar’s Pirate ship invades Hillsborough Bay (ship sets sail from Ballast Point Pier and heads north to the Convention Center). From 2-5:30, watch the Parade which starts at Bayshore and Bay to Bay Blvd. and proceeds North to downtown across the Platt Street Bridge. One great way to watch this parade is with reserved bleacher seating ($26 for adults, $26 for children 3+), available through the main website at www.gasparillapiratefest.com This is especially helpful if you have children attending with you.

Gasparilla Brunch
When: Saturday, January 26th Where: The Tampa Convention Center Why: Satisfy a pirate-sized appetite early by attending the Gasparilla Brunch at the Convention Center in Downtown Tampa. This is where the Ye Mystic Crewe will start their invasion of Tampa and where the Mayor will relinquish the key to the city. This is a colorful event with great views and delicious food including a buffet with fruits, cheeses, eggs, bacon and even carving stations. Gasparilla Pirate Street Festival and Stage Fest

Saturday, January 26th Where: Downtown Tampa along Kennedy Blvd. and Florida Avenue Why: If the parade earlier in the day didn’t provide enough pirate merriment, head farther down the parade route to the Street Festival where the festivities will be in full swing (fun begins even before the pirate invasion at 10:00!) with live entertainment, food and the Gasparilla Mid-Way an area full of games and rides for all ages.
