Good bet if you are familiar with South Tampa, you have had cause to wonder about the Tudor Manor near the corner of
MacDill and Morrison. The house has gone through quite a few transitions in its long, Tampa history. Most recently, the home was chosen for the Mayfair Charity Showhouse, a project
that brings together Tampa’s designing best all to benefit The Bolesta Center, a charity for deaf & hearing impaired children and The Spring, a domestic violence women’s charity.

Each room in the house was the volunteer project of a different Tampa designer. Of particular interest to us was the nursery designed by South Tampa’s own Little Peeps. Ashley Moran and
Patti Thomas, the store owners, got involved with the project both to give back and to showcase their passion and expertise in nursery and children’s room design. This is not Little Peeps first Showhouse, and the nursery has been transformed into a
striking lesson in beauty and design.

Gathering ideas at Market where they seek the latest trends for baby and child, they chose a gender neutral color for the room’s color scheme. “The misty-aqua color is fresh and subtle; the blue-green tone is calming.” The furniture, built by Art for Kids, is the perfect compliment to the dupioni silk custom bedding, made by Lulla Smith. A recurring theme of birds, in the artwork on the walls, the topiary on the dresser and the ivory, crystal adorned chandelier, adds a sense of whimsy to the décor. Our favorite
feature of the room was the pint-sized alcove which was outfitted with a precious tea set, complete with dining guests. Ashley adds, “The room represents the top-of-the-top in nursery décor and design,” making it the perfect springboard for those needing inspiration for their own baby’s nursery.

Opening today, Saturday, October 27th and running through November 18th, the Showhouse, open 10-4 daily, costs $20 per person to tour. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at Little Peeps. To learn more about the Showhouse, visit http://www.bolestacenter.org For details on the nursery décor, call Little Peeps on South Dale Mabry Highway at (813) 250-0044. Most of the items in the house are available for purchase, with a percentage of the sale going directly back to The Bolesta Center and The Spring, making this event beautiful in more ways than one.
