The Centre for Girls is a free, after-school (all day during the summer) program that assists 10-18 year old girls transition into healthy, able women. More than 75% of the girls in this program come from low-income families and would most likely be home alone if not for the Centre. Staffed by counseling professionals, The Centre for Girls guides girls to make healthy life choices, resolve self-esteem issues and learn effective communication tools. How we can help: The Centre for Girls operates a “snack store” which strives to provide low-cost, healthy food options for the girls. The Centre is looking to secure donations of foods for the store, the small profits of which go directly to purchase refreshments for the Centre’s monthly Family Night and cooking classes for the girls. The Centre opens at 8 am and is located at: 105 W. Sligh Avenue, Tampa, 33604 (near the corner of Florida and Sligh, entrance on Sligh Ave.) Phone: 813-231-3404.
